WEST, CHARLES VERNON died 24 Aug 1987 Comment
Charles Vernon West, 63, of Route 3, Oneida, passed away Monday, August 23, 1987, at the Scott County Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. West was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, and was a retired funeral director, having opened the West Funeral Home with his father, Lee West, in 1949. Mr. West was preceded in death by his father, Lee West; and one brother, Glenn West. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth West of Route 3, Oneida; three sons: Chuck West of Dresden, and Marvin West and Tim West, both of Oneida; two daughters: Mary Beth Armstrong and Melanie Ann Duncan, both of Oneida; his mother, Grace West of Oneida; a sister, Lois Lee Harris of Ft. Myers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chuck Boonstra and Rev. Phillip Kazee officiating. There will be a private graveside today (Thursday) at Carson Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Scott County chapter of the American Cancer Society. West-Murley Funeral Home of Oneida is in charge of the arrangements.
