LAXTON, MARY ETTA DUNCAN died 23 May 2010 Comment
Mary Etta Laxton, 97, of Oneida, passed away May 23, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Scott County in Oneida. Born in the Paint Rock community, January 13, 1913, she was preceded in death by her mother, Florence West Duncan; her husband, Elbert Laxton; one daughter, Muriel Irene Laxton; one grandson, David Shane Laxton; and daughter-in-law, Janice Laxton. She was the oldest member of Pentecost Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and the church clerk. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her family. She is survived by one son, Rev. James Laxton of Oneida; two daughters: Lilyan Strunk and husband, Bill, and Barbara Burton and husband, Charles, all of Oneida; six grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted May 25, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida with Rev. Ashley Cooper officiating. Music was provided by the Chitwood Family and great-granddaughters. Graveside service was to have been conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, at Peaceful Rose Gardens in the Paint Rock community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the organization of your choice. Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
