LOWE, NELSON LOCKHART died 24 Jul 1986 Comment
Nelson Lockhart Lowe, 65, of Elk Valley, passed away Thursday morning, July 24, 1986, at the Jellico Community Hospital. Mr. Lowe, who was originally from Smokey Junction, was the son of the late Thomas Lowe and the late Bertha Gibson Lowe and was also preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Lois Lowe; and one brother, Fletcher Lowe. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Elk Fork Baptist Church in Elk Valley. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mae Phillips Lowe of Elk Valley; one daughter, Reba Fuller of Orange City, Fla.; three sons: Gather Dean Lowe of Elk Valley, and Johnny Ray Lowe and Junior Lowe, both of Bahalia, Miss.; one foster daughter, Cathy Bauswell of the Mill Branch community; one foster son, Dennis Reed of Elk Valley; two brothers: Orville Lowe of Straight Fork and Frazier Lowe of Missippi; his step-mother, Mary Brooks Lowe of Cincinnati, O.; three step-sisters: Irene Perkins of Indianapolis, Ind., and Betty Brown and Louise Parton, both of Norwood, O.; three step-brothers: Verlin Reynolds, Cecil Reynolds, and Bobby Kaiser, all of Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Mill Branch Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, with Rev. David Morgan, Rev. Edmon Lowe, and Rev. Cecil Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Mill Branch Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of arrangements. (Source: The Scott County News, 31 Jul 1986, p12)
